Info on Caye Caulker |
The Caye Caulker motto says it all... "GO SLOW". It's difficult to remember what day it is. Just another day in paradise! The island of Caye Caulker is a charming fishing village located less than 1 mile from the second largest barrier reef in the world, just 18 miles from Belize City and 8 miles from Ambergris Caye... and miles away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Caye Caulker is a laid back kind o' place where you can't be in a hurry. It's as laid back as one can ask for, yet activities are available if one desires. Pry yourself out of the hammocks and experience the unique attractions of Caye Caulker. This tiny Island Paradise affords you the opportunity to forget it all and enjoy the quaint fishing village life... This white sand island is surrounded by crystal clear water and is shaded by swaying palms and pine trees. We have a vibrant marine reserve and many forest reserve areas. Our main means of transportation are our feet, bicycle, and golf carts. Walk the Island where both Mayans and Pirates once walked. The treasure that they never discovered is still here. The beauty, peace, and romance of the Island still remains. |

Take advantage of the roof top palapa deck where you can enjoy the 360 degree panoramic view of Caye Caulker, while laying in a hammock swayed by the tropical breezes or sunbathe in private or on the beach. |
Come visit the Lazy Iguana on Caye Caulker. You can get here either by boat, 45 minutes from Belize City passing over clear shallow water next to mangrove covered Cayes (Caye Caulker Water Taxi) or by plane 12 minutes from the International airport, viewing the tiny Islands and the awesome turquoise waters (Tropic Air). We can make all the arrangements for you... Start going SLOW and think about the island's delicious seafood! Restaurants are plentiful and very affordable. Check some out: Syd's, Glenda's, Tropical Paradise, Coco-Plum, Rasta Pasta, Habaneros, Sports Bar, and Rainbow Bar & Grill, just to name a few. All serve mouth watering Lobster (season:June 15 to Feb. 15), fresh Fish, Conch (Conch season is September 30-July 1st), and the ever present stewed chicken & rice and beans..... Mo and Irene Miller came to Belize in 1983 and fell in love with Caye Caulker. In 1996 we followed our dream and retired here. We share our dream with our State-side partners Jerry & Kari Morris, and Daniel & Dawn Hopkins. We invite you to visit us. Your stay in Caye Caulker will be a memorable experience too. |
